Infinity - a definition

(from the Brittanica Dictionary)

Infinity, the concept of something that is unlimited, endless, without bound.

It is represented by ∞, and this is called the infinity symbol, which was invented by the English mathematician John Wallis in 1655.

♾️

In metaphysical terms, to me, infinity is limitless being.

Vibrations and energy, love, and consciousness that are not bound by time or space.

An excerpt taken from Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, Chapter: The Ferryman, pp 119-120.

Siddhartha says to Vasudeva, the wise ferryman:

“Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time?"

A bright smile spread over Vasudeva's face. "Yes, Siddhartha, he said. "Is this what you mean? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains, everywhere, and that the present only exists for it, not the shadow of the past, nor the shadow of the future?”

"That is it", said Siddhartha, "and when I learned that, I reviewed my life and it was also a river, and Siddhartha the boy, Siddhartha the mature man and Siddhartha the old man, were only separated by shadows, not through reality. Siddhartha's previous lives were also not in the past, and his death and his return to Brahma are not in the future.

Nothing was, nothing will be, everything has reality and presence".

I love this quote where Siddhartha truly understands and listens to the river and learns that he doesn't have to chase the future (know where it's going) or cling to the past (holding onto yesterday) because the present moment holds the ALL - infinity.

To me, this is love, memory, spirit, possibility, silence, and a timeless connection.

Siddhartha FEELS peace and the river teaches him to stop seeking and just BE.

Profound, yet simple and beautiful!

The river symbolises infinity, timelessness and a kind of flowing in the NOW.

The past and future dissolve into the now.

A deep presence with no beginning and no end that we all have within us.
