My Uncle Ron first introduced me to 432 Hz music some years back, which initially sparked my interest
and led me to research it further and read this book.
432 Hz is an alternative tuning standard where the note A is tuned to 432 Hz instead of 440 Hz
(the standard set in the 1950's).
Malvik explores the idea that music tuned to 432 Hz may resonate with the human body, mind, and spirit.
Compared to 440 Hz, the difference is subtle, but real.
Used more like an intentional tool for alignment, relaxation, and healing.
Although this book is not backed by conventional science,
I really appreciated how Malvik invites you to experience sound differently.
It was a captivating read that made me pause and listen more deeply.
Plus, the mix of basic music theory, numerology, geometry, mysticism, and ancient knowledge drew me in.
Kind of intriguing and a bit mysterious!
This reminds me of my Uncle Ron saying to me ages ago that he finds music played in a minor key mysterious, not sad.
Malvik discusses how, in Western culture, there is a universal tendency to perceive music played in a major key as happy and music played in a minor key as sad. He goes on to say that this is most likely culturally learned; however, it does not apply in other parts of the world. For e.g., Pygmy people in Africa found the opposite when researchers played two short pieces of music: one with a happy feeling and one with a sad feeling.
The Myth and Truth chapter on 432 Hz is insightful because Malvik frames the ideas as interpretations
rather than proven facts.
Malvik also mentions Roel Hollander, a musician and researcher who delves into 432 Hz,
music, sound, sacred geometry, esoterism, and so much more.
I'll finish with a quote from Malvik that remains with me from his book:
"What is important is that we take music back to what it truly can be, an amazing tool for wellbeing!"
I agree wholeheartedly!
