I have been studying and learning about the Tao Te Ching for quite a while now,
so I was keen as to dive into Le Guin's rendition of the Tao Te Ching.
Le Guin herself called it a rendition, not a translation, because she did not know any Chinese,
but sought help from Paul Carus' 1898 translation.
She was first introduced to this translation as a child by her father.
Le Guin's rendition is short, but it's jam-packed with so much wisdom, beauty, insight, and spirit.
I related fully to her interpretations and her honest commentary in the Chapter notes.
A few bonuses include explanations of her word choices and a list of sources that help you understand
Le Guin's very careful and thoughtful process.
It's a totally engaging rendition, that's for sure.
I'll definitely keep this book by my bedside and return to it daily!
